A former journalist, Sonia Zavesky is a highly experienced media and crisis skills trainer, working with clients in the corporate, government, business and community sectors. Sonia is one of the developers of the Media Skills™ Crisis training methodology. She and her team work with a broad range of clients, all of whom realise the benefits of approaching media interviews strategically and safely. Sonia is also experienced at handling communications on behalf of an organisation, following her three years as Director of Communication for a global not for profit organisation. While located at the international head office in The Netherlands, Sonia gained a wealth of experience in managing a controversial global brand and dealing with international media.
Before becoming a media trainer, Sonia spent almost ten years as a news and current affairs journalist with the ABC.
During her time at the ABC, Sonia was guest presenter of several programs, a parliamentary reporter, and later a Europe correspondent based in Prague. She has been at the forefront of covering events such as the 1994 Sydney bushfires, the Port Arthur Massacre and several state and federal elections.
On her return to Australia, Sonia was, for several years, Chief of Staff and then Executive Producer of ABC Radio News in Sydney.
Sonia is a graduate of the Australian Film, Television and Radio School. She conducts media training workshops for the Public Relations Institute of Australia (NSW Branch.)
